Oh, they've been working hard to avoid talking about us, our friends in the BBC (although there is a
story hidden away in the UK section on the website). Fine. That somehow beats the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth whose
website actually repeats a Reuters report from
two weeks ago,
allowing them to claim an attendance of "7,000", which wasn't even
right at the time. I swear that's what they've done. Check the date and
time stamp on the story, and then compare it to the
Reuters story from two weeks ago.
If they try and change it, I've taken screenshots. Other media sources
are reporting the estimates of demo organisers and police for
this protest.
Aljazeera.net
cites a police estimate of 20,000, and other news organisations seem to
have followed suit. I happen to know they have revised that down,
because I was directly in ear shot when a policeman explained to a
protester that the estimate at 1.00pm (before much of the crowd had
arrived, in other words) was betweeen 30,000 and 50,000.
CNN
have unilaterally revised the police estimate down to 15,000. Yeah
yeah. No one's buying their horseshit any more. This was massive, and
angry, and determined. The media do not determine the meaning of our
protests for us.
Have a look at the start of the demo:
I
did a lot of swinging from lampposts on top of fences and pillar boxes
to get a half-decent angle, and it occurred to me at some perilous
moments that you could really live with the worm's eye view. Never
mind. Here are some Hezbollah members:
Got to love that: a little girl and an old lady, banging the drum for the Lebanese resistance.
Why not have a look at some video footage?:
